The Charles Finney School is pleased to announce that four Finney high school students have received a Scholastic Art and Writing Award in the Region-At-Large competition. The students are:
Nikki Savastano: Honorable mention
Hannah Winter: Silver Key Award
Brooke Nance: Gold Key Award
Michael Carpenter: Silver & Gold Key Awards for two separate pieces
Brooke's and Michael's gold key pieces will now move on to the national level of competition.
About The Alliance for Young Artists and Writers:
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have an impressive legacy dating back to 1923. Submissions are juried by luminaries in the visual and literary arts. Panelists look for works that best exemplify originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. This year, over 185,000 pieces were submitted by 90,000 individual students.
About the Region-At-Large awards:
Gold Key: The highest level of achievement on the regional level. Approximately 7 – 10% of all regional submissions are recognized with Gold Key Awards and all are considered for national-level recognition. Silver Key: Approximately 10 – 15% of all regional submissions are recognized with Silver Key Awards. Honorable Mention: This Award recognizes students with artistic potential. Approximately 15 – 20% of all regional submissions receive Honorable Mention Awards.
